Dr. Velting and his wife Katie are thrilled to be part of the Morton community! While Katie was born and raised in Morton, Dr. Velting is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He completed his bachelor's degree at Taylor University, and graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Optometry. Before moving to Morton and joining our practice in 2016, Dr. Velting practiced in Deerfield, Illinois, specializing in the treatment of anterior segment eye diseases, specialty contact lenses, glaucoma management, and primary eye care.
Dr. Velting is currently chair of the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the American Optometric Association, and past chair of the Public Health Committee of the Illinois Optometric Association. Additionally, he has held adjunct faculty positions at the Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Pennsylvania Schools of Optometry, and is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Velting enjoys playing sports, mountain biking, traveling, and spending time with his wife Katie, and two children Henry and Adeline.
